For The Armory Show 2017 Bruce Silverstein Gallery will present an exhibition of paintings and photographs by Alfred Leslie, Paul Outerbridge, Eric Fischl, Todd Hido, Brea Souders, Keith A. Smith, and Max Neumann. The central and unifying theme connecting the artworks is the human figure.
A highlight and predominant focus of our display will be new, large-scale photographic portraits by the renowned painter, Alfred Leslie. The artist’s singular and inventive process for creating his Pixel Score images (character studies of protagonists from celebrated literary works) is the evolution of his decades-long interest in the human figure. The gallery is currently organizing an exhibition of Leslie’s latest photographic works. Our booth at The Armory will also feature the artist’s extraordinarily large (10 feet by 6 feet) Grisaille Paintings - three-quarter nude portraits of the painter’s friends and models painted completely in grayscale.
