Bruce Silverstein is pleased to announce Aaron Siskind: Recurrence, an exhibition of works exploring the initial development and further evolution of recurring forms, themes, and line-gestures appearing and reappearing throughout the artist’s career. Consisting of over eighty vintage prints originating from the Aaron Siskind Foundation, this exhibit offers the viewer a unique opportunity to identify, follow and contextualize many of these recurrences – the combination of which forms the basis of a highly original and influential lexicon developed by the only photographic member of the Abstract Expressionist group.
Aaron Siskind was born December 4, 1903, in New York, N.Y. and died February 8, 1991, in Providence, Rhode Island.
The Aaron Siskind Foundation is a non-profit organization created by the artist in 1984 to support contemporary photography by rewarding and encouraging excellence in its practitioners through artist’s grants. For more information, visit www.aaronsiskind.org.
