REVIEW BY L'OEIL DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE Songs and the Sky
The Eye of Photography, May 30, 2016
The exhibition Songs and the Sky at the Bruce Silverstein Gallery offers an original way of presenting certain works in the gallery’s collection by associating each series with a historically and conceptually pertinent musical composition. The title of the exhibition derives from the original title for Alfred Stieglitz’s Equivalents (cloud patterns taken between 1925 and 1937). It is rare to be able to see such a large selection of Stieglitz’s images, and the audio accompaniment by Ernest Bloch lends them added history and beauty.
